A new tournament has been developed to remember and honor a man who devoted himself to the sport he loved and support a cause he chose. The Bill Blackburn Memorial Bowling Tournament will continue to promote the sport of bowling and provide scholarships for youth. Bill Blackburn was the Executive Director of the Southern Bowling Congress and the Business Manager for the Memphis Area USBC.
He was truly dedicated to the sport of Bowling, as all who knew and loved him were well aware of.
The Bill Blackburn Memorial will benefit the Junior Diabetes Foundation as that would have been Bill’s wish. It will also provide scholarships to youth and cash prizes for adults. The format is a singles tournament. Six games bowled with 100% handicap, making the playing field completely equal and whoever bowls the most over their average wins $50, 000 for first place in the adult divisions based on entries. The Bill Blackburn Memorial will have Adult Female, Adult Male and Youth Male and Youth Female divisions. The youth will receive a $15,000 scholarship for first place based on entries.
